1. Tap into some beer - why not plan yourself a little visit the Big Rock Brewery to sample some of the best independently crafted beers in all of North America? It was opened in 1985 by a former lawyer/farmer and the facility is open for tours. All visitors are provided with a free sample too!
2. Acquire fabulous feet - don't wait for the "open toe shoe season" to begin, and go get a blissfully wonderful pedicure. The city of Calgary has many incredible day spas and manicure/pedicure shops providing deliciously royal treatment for those winter weary feet!
3. Get a jumpstart on butterfly season - head to the Calgary Zoo and Botanical Garden to make a visit to the butterfly enclosure. While you're there why not stop by the lowland gorilla enclosure and wish them a happy spring as well!
4. Take up the hula hoop - everyone knows that hula hooping is back, and Calgary residents are particularly blessed because they have their very own hula hooping school! "2 Hoop" classes will get even the most winterized mid-section back in shape just in time for bikini season!
5. Make plans for the Kids - the Calgary International Children's Festival takes place in the city each spring and usually sees more than sixty thousand young visitors who come to enjoy the demonstrations, performances, cultural displays and more.
6. The birds are back - migrating birds begin their return to the region. Why not join in on a local weekend bird walk or watch?
7. Find a favorite Sunday spot - before the rush for a street side seat begins, why not make a visit to all your local coffee houses and brew shops to find the one (or two) you will visit this coming spring, summer and fall? Make friends with the baristas and ensure yourself top of the line treatment for the best part of the year!
8. Check the schedules - the city's many farmers markets will soon be back in full swing. It's a good idea to begin gathering their schedules.
9. Enjoy the last of the indoor opportunities - winter is almost over and it is probably a great idea to take advantage of the last days that staying in and watching some movies will not conflict with the sunny weather!
10. Be on bulb alert - some of the most photogenic scenes occur in Calgary's springtime parks and gardens. Be on alert and never head out for a March or April walk without your trusty camera!
